The Department of Community and Therapeutic Recreation at UNCG has a long, proud history of community engagement. Every year students in the department gain valuable hands-on experience and expand their professional horizons while giving back to the Piedmont Triad community.

In the Fall of 2012 our Program Planning in Recreation and Parks (RPM 213) class set out to assist 9 local agencies with planning, implementing, and evaluating a program. Our group served Bur-Mil Park with planning and implementing a Fall Festival. This special event took place on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Bur-Mil Park in Greensboro, NC. There were many booths full of information and activities, food, music, a Pumpkin Patch and much more! Along the way we learned a great deal. This is the story of our group's service learning experience.
