Equipment Access

Reservations

If you are requesting equipment, be sure you have read and signed a Usage Agreement Form and are familiar with equipment use policies. The Usage Agreement Form can be completed online by clicking this link.

Reservations for equipment are handled through the College of Liberal Arts WebCheckout system. Instructions on how to use the Patron Portal for making reservations can be viewed at http://docs.webcheckout.net/patron-portal-module/

The WebCheckout system can be accessed directly at any time from any computer with web access. Equipment availability is based on classes in which you are currently registered (NOTE: you will have access to equipment ONLY if provided in a course in which you are enrolled). You will need to log in with your U of M internet id and password.

Checkout Rules

  • Equipment is not available for pick up until 12 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Equipment must be reserved 24 hours in advance.
  • Equipment may be checked out for a maximum of 48 hours excluding Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Equipment is due back before lab closes each day. Returns on the following morning are considered late and may result in your privileges being terminated.
  • Access to equipment is based on the classes in which you are enrolled.
  • Although you will receive an automatic confirmation of your reservation, your reservation may be unavailable if it has not been returned on time or if the equipment has been damaged. We will make every effort to find a suitable substitute in such cases.
  • The WebCheckout system will block reservations not in accordance with checkout rules.

Remember that all use of equipment is a privilege, subject to the rules of the Digital Media Studio.

Failure to observe rules, abuse of equipment and failure to return equipment on time can result in penalties including:

  • grading penalties
  • suspension of privileges
  • holds on academic records

Go to WebCheckout. Select SJMC DMS to reserve equipment from the DMS equipment pool (Be aware that you may have access to multiple sites within CLA with differing rules and pools of equipment)
