SPRING BREAK ANIME MARATHON

posted Mar 16, 2019, 12:54 AM by Helen Yandrasits

It's spring break! That means we will not be having a regular meeting next week on 3/21. What we will have, however, is SPRING BREAK ANIME MARATHON! From 10 AM to 10 PM we will be meeting in Moos 2-580 (not our normal room) and watching anime! That's 12 hours of anime watching! Of course, you can come and go as you please, but the more time you can spend watching anime the better! We will have our DVD/BluRay player and access to most legal streaming services, so bring shows you want to watch! We hope to see you there!

Note that the following week (3/28) we will also not have MAS due to many of our admins and members being involved in the local anime convention Anime Detour that is running that weekend! If you're going to Detour, several of our members are running panels, so keep an eye out! We will make another reminder post with more details on all the panels MAS members are involved in closer to the date of the con.

Have a lovely spring break!

Craptacular!! Also Voting is Open!

posted Dec 18, 2018, 4:07 PM by Helen Yandrasits   [ updated Dec 18, 2018, 4:32 PM ]

We will be having our semi-annual Craptacular night this Thursday 12/20 at 6 PM in Moos 2-520. NOTE: This is not our regular room! If you're unfamiliar with Craptacular, it is when we all gather together after finals to de-stress by watching bad anime, silly anime, dubbed anime, and other ridiculous things. It's a lot of fun, and we will have snacks! Everyone is welcome to come help us heckle some of the worst shows we could find!

Also, voting is now open! If you are a paid member, you should have already received an invitation to vote in your email. If you haven't received this email and you believe you should have, contact us at mangaanimesociety@gmail.com to sort that out! Voting closes on 12/20 at 11:59 PM. Every vote counts!

Nominations and Preview Night! (And Admin Meeting!)

posted Dec 11, 2018, 4:16 PM by Helen Yandrasits   [ updated Dec 12, 2018, 4:11 PM ]

It's that time of year again - time to select new shows for Spring Semester 2019! This semester we will be voting for 3 pre-showings (11-13 episodes) and 2 main-showings (22-26 episodes). YOU MUST BE A PAID MEMBER TO NOMINATE AND VOTE FOR SHOWS! Nominations will be open until 11:59 PM on Thursday 12/13.

Also, to help select shows, we will have a preview night this Thursday 12/13! First at 6:30 PM we will finish the last two episodes of Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu, then at about 7:15 PM we will start showing clips of nominated shows. If you want to show a clip of a show you nominated, you must bring it yourself! Please keep clips to about 1-3 minutes in length.

Finally, we will also be having a Craptacular Planning Meeting this Thursday 12/13 at 5:00 PM in Moos 1-440! Help us pick out bad shows to trash during our Craptacular night next week! Anyone can come help us out!
