UPDATE (1:15 p.m. Sun. Jan. 6th): OIT's NetApp storage came back online shortly before 1:00 p.m. and at this time all library systems and services are back online.
UMN OIT's annual data center maintenance is scheduled from 6 a.m. Sat. Jan. 5 to noon Sun. Jan. 6. Many library systems and services will be affected.
The outage is required in order to perform necessary maintenance, testing and repairs to facility infrastructure, and involves a complete shutdown of the main data center, resulting in interruption to IT services during that time.
The Libraries' Data & Technology Division, working with OIT, is planning to keep the following services available throughout this outage. Please note that some of the systems listed below as "available" during the outage will have some brief periods of unavailability, which could occur on each end of the downtime period to switch services from servers in one location to another.
PLEASE NOTE: Some systems expecting to remain available may be switched over to mirror sites in the preceding the official starting time of the outage, causing some minor interruption of service. Also, this listing is subject to change.
Many university-wide systems -- including PeopleSoft HR, PeopleSoft Financials (EFS), Active Directory (files), Moodle, NetFiles, etc. -- will NOT be available during the outage. However, some of considerable usefulness WILL be available, including Google Apps (GMail, Calendar, and Docs).
All impacted applications supported by the Office of Information Technology (OIT) are expected to be restored to service by noon on January 6, 2013. A complete list of affected services is available online. Regular updates also will be shared as they become available. Updates also will be available on the Data Center Operations Services website, and on the University's system status page during the service interruption period.
