    Multimedia in ELM (45 minutes)

No matter what the research project or personal interest, multimedia is in high demand. ELM contains a treasure trove of multimedia from a digital collection of works of art to indexes holding thousands of images and videos covering all subject matter. Join Minitex Reference Outreach & Instruction staff for a webinar on how to quickly locate a variety of multimedia content.

ELM: More Than Just Articles (65 minutes)

The ELM Databases are so much more than just searches and articles. Not only can you find more content types such as book chapters, images, speeches, interviews, letters, videos, transcripts, and audio files but the databases offer multiple ways of managing, sharing, presenting, and citing the information to meet many research and project needs. Join us in this one hour session as we unearth all the unique features of many of the ELM databases, such as EBSCOhost databases, Science Reference Center, and more to learn how to create accounts, store and manage items, share them with others, and put them together for presentations.

Locating Videos in ELM (42 minutes)

Where can you find authoritative, accurate, and educational videos? In the ELM databases, of course. Join Minitex Reference staff as they show you where and how to locate videos in the ELM database and in some cases, how you can download them into PowerPoint and use them in class.

Using Maps in Student Resources in Context (23 minutes)

How many people in Minnesota do not have health insurance? How many Minnesotans were wounded in the Iraq war? Which state in the union has the highest rate of obesity? Gale recently added interactive maps to their collection of resources in the 6th – 12th grade database Student Resources in Context. The maps allow users to view statistical information on various topics which then leads users to more information about the topic including academic journals, reference and primary sources, and multimedia content. This 30 minute session will highlight ways to view and use the information, access to more content, and what information is used to create the maps.

Smart Resources for the SMART Board (30 minutes)

Do you have a SMART Board in your classroom, library, or computer lab but are looking for ideas on how to use it for more than a projection screen? Are you looking for more ways to engage and interact with your students using the SMART Board? Discover curriculum content that works as smoothly with the SMART Board as peanut butter does with jelly. In this 30 minute webinar you will learn about the teaching and learning resources available to you and your students in the Electronic Library for Minnesota that comes to life on the SMART Board. You’ll also understand how to quickly access these resources and tips for using them to create meaningful engagement with your students.
