Session 3: How to Navigate Rights and Ownership of your Research Data

Would it be ok if others accessed your data before you are ready to publish the results? If not, how are you going to prevent unauthorized sharing?
Who owns your data? This section will illustrate some of the data access and ownership concerns that researchers face when sharing their data with others. After this module, you will be able to:
  • name the stakeholders of your data in order to understand the potential access and ownership concerns with releasing your data to a broader audience,
  • report potential access concerns with your data in order to plan for the appropriate release, and
  • identify potential access controls in order to secure your data prior to release.
Video Lesson: Data Access and Ownership
