Research Interests
Nathan Niemi's research interests are in continental deformation, with an emphasis on actively deforming tectonic systems. Detailed field mapping, neotectonic studies, and continuous GPS geodesy are some of the methods he applies to compare how crustal deformation is accommodated during orogenesis over a wide range of timescales, from decades to tens of millions of years.

Prospective Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Researchers

I am seeking motivated graduate students and postdoctoral researchers interested in field-work intensive projects focused on the tectonic evolution of the western US, the Middle East and Asia. Please contact me to discuss potential opportunities.
