Pre-Migration

As you prepare for your migration to Google Apps, refer to the Pre-Migration Checklist for a list of tasks that will help you make the transition as easy as possible. Each unit will have a Readiness Coordinator, Technical Lead, and Communications Lead who will act as key liaisons between the unit and project team to help coordinate the migration and assure that the unit is fully prepared to move to the Google platform.

Making the Transition

Everyone on the Ann Arbor campus got access to 40+ Google collaboration apps on March 5, 2012.
At that time, UM-Ann Arbor students, retirees and UMOL ONLY also began to migrate their current UMICH email to Google, with support, through August 2012.

For UM-Ann Arbor units deploying email and calendar, migration of messages and calendar information from the current application (ITS IMAP or ITS Exchange) to Google email will be managed in phases following the student implementation according to the published Go-Live Dates schedule. Details will be communicated to faculty and staff beginning five to six weeks prior to their go-live dates.
The Dearborn and Flint campuses will follow the Ann Arbor deployments. Dearborn moves to Google email and calendar, and will receive the collaboration tools, on March 18, 2013. Flint received the collaboration tools in October, 2012, but has chosen to not use Google email and calendar at this time.
