...partnering to create and sustain healthy individuals, families and communities within western maine

 UMEM (the United Methodist
 Economic Ministry) in Salem
 Township, ME is an extension
 ministry of the New England
of the United
 Methodist Church

Our work is grounded in the
 desire to embody God's heart
 for the poor by addressing
 economic injustice, and by
 maintaining a compassionate,
visible presence in the lives of
 the people of the region.

 About Us

 We believe:

 – that we work as partners
 with God in transforming lives

 – in the responsibility of the
 community to affirm each
 person's sacred worth

 – in the basic ability of
 individuals to create
 sustainable lives...

You Can Help!

 Each year UMEM collects craft
 items made by local church
members to sell at the New
 England Annual Conference at
 Gordon College in June.

 Would you donate handcrafted
 items to UMEM?  Your pastor
can deliver the items to the
 UMEM display table at Annual
 Conference.  Last year the craft
 table generated nearly $1500 --
 money that helped supply winter
 fuel and other assistance to
 families in need.
