Dr. Eduardo Segredo was born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain, on June 17, 1984. He received the M.Sc. Degree in Computer Science from the Universidad de La Laguna, in 2008, and the PhD in Computer Science from the Universidad de La Laguna, in 2014. During the summer of 2011 and 2012, he was a visitor at the Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre (EPCC) and the Edinburgh Napier University, Edinburgh, United Kingdom. He is currently a Senior Associate Research Fellow in the School of Computing of the Edinburgh Napier University and a Part-time Lecturer in the Universidad de La Laguna. His research has been concerned with multi-objective and single-objective optimization, meta-heuristics, hyper-heuristics, parameter setting in evolutionary algorithms, and diversity preservation mechanisms in population-based meta-heuristics, including diversity-based multi-objective evolutionary algorithms for single-objective optimization. He has authored and co-authored more than 40 scientific papers which have been published in prestigious journals (e.g. IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics and Journal of Global Optimization, among others) and conferences (e.g. IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation, Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference, and Parallel Problem Solving from Nature, among others). Finally, he is a member of the IEEE and IEEE Computational Intelligence Society since 2014.
