The role of private regulation in achieving public sector transparency in Romania project
Research objective. To analyse in a comparative context the role of private sector regulation (coming from civil society organisations) in shaping local government transparency in Romania
Brief description. This project approaches the good regulation - the good practice of local government transparency nexus. On the normative level, it starts from the suggestion that top-down (central government) over-regulation of local government openness and transparency leads to limited local initiative and self-regulation and reduces the meaningfulness of co-operation and communication with different public stakeholders. Empirically, this discussion is contextualised via an analysis of information policy and practice in Romanian local government.
Timeframe: July 2016-July 2018
