Project methodology

The project proposes a mixed quantitative and qualitative approach to the topic comprising:

• An electronic survey of county presidents, county councillors and top civil servants, in co-ordination with the Second Tier Survey. The survey on representatives is the primary mean of assessing aspects of political representation in political research in Europe and North America, no matter what the type of representative or the level of government.

• Content analysis of a sample of the activity reports of county councillors in Romania covering the current term in office.
• Case studies to identify the (informal) rules-in-use and the local matrix of relationships.
