Traveling the technology landscape
||Welcoming remarks by Provost Tom Apple
Dr. Susan Smith Nash: Excellence in college teaching and learning
||Faculty panel on teaching, learning and assessment
UD is embarking upon a pilot program using a Teaching, Learning and Assessment (TLA) ePortfolio, that spans every year of a student's time in the major, is focused upon integrative and reflective learning, and demonstrates student competency in achieving the program's student learning goals. Does it hold real promise for deeper student engagement? Will it facilitate conversations among faculty about how (and whether) courses and experiences connect within a curriculum? Or is it really just "more work" for both students and faculty?
|Opportunities to re-think the best use of class time
With recorded lectures and packaged content delivery, there is an opportunity to re-think the best ways to spend face-to-face class time. Discussion will re-designing assignments and creating rubrics.
||Expand your guest list with video conferencing
With video conferencing technology, guest speakers are just a click away. In this program, we'll show you how to set up your own conferencing session to bring guest speakers to your classes without the need for travel. You'll also see how the campus conferencing facilities can help facilitate live collaborative projects between your students and professionals throughout the world.
|Know your students better on the first day of class
Why walk in cold when you can get acquainted with your students before the first day of class? In this session, you'll create a pre-course survey and review campus communication tools to jump start your course. Discover what our campus survey reveals about what students want to share about themselves and learn about your course before they walk into the room.
After 3:15 p.m. (and earlier throughout the day): Information Technologies staff will be available for individual consultation. These one-on-one meetings can help you make connections that are personally meaningful and useful.
