Social Studies

Why is the world
Bath, United Kingdom
the way it is?  Why are beliefs and rituals so different and unique all around the world?  Where did the national boundaries come from?  Why are those two nations allies?  Why are those two ethnic groups always fighting?  What motivated him or her to do or say that?  These questions, and so many more, are why I chose the area of Social Studies for my career in education.  I enjoy passing on that passion for seeking for and finding answers on to my students.  I love planting seeds of inquiry in their minds and guiding them in finding the information for which they seek.  I have trouble believing that I actually get compensated for this exciting job.

Social Studies

Social studies is the lens through which we can more clearly see the world.
The different areas of social studies are windows shedding light onto the questions of who is in the world, why is the world in its present state, and how did history shape this current situation.  Social studies is the lens through which we can more accurately see the world.
Through studying History, Government, Psychology, Sociology, Geography, and Economics, people can begin answer these questions as they understand the world, how it works, the diversity of its people, and their responsibility as a citizen of the USA.  I believe that these disciplines are needed now more than ever, so that students are prepared for the difficult and complex world that awaits them once they leave school.

History

History is an argument about the past.
My goal is for this site to be a valuable resource in whatever area of social studies you are interested or currently learning.  I have includ
ed a variety of tools, resources, and information to help you in your studies in history, but also valuable in whatever content area you may be learning or studying.  I hope this a helpful, engaging, and valuable resource for you.
