Girl Scouts gathered in Spencer Laboratory March 15 as University of Delaware professor Richard Wool described how chicken feathers can help clean up an oil spill.

Wool, a professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, shared that engineers are creative problem solvers and that green engineering is the science of the future.

The event was part of a three-week Family Friday series by UD K-12 Engineering’s outreach to encourage girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
