VP's Corner

Spring seems to have finally arrived, and the campus looks great. We’re getting lots of visits every day from prospective students and we often hear compliments about the excellence of UD’s campus. Thanks for all you do to make this happen!

We’re also moving into the home stretch of the 2012-13 academic year. Graduation and reunion weekend are only about a month away, and I know there’s lots of work already taking place to get us ready for these important events. Once again, these bring lots of people to campus that aren’t here very often, so it’s a great opportunity to put our “best foot forward” and show people what we can do.
I recently attended the service awards luncheon and the dinner for our longest serving employees is in May. I’m always pleased to see the high number of Facilities & Auxiliary Services employees being recognized at these events. I really appreciate the commitment to UD that this long service demonstrates. Keep up the good work.

It’s also time to take note of the major Facilities Planning & Construction projects that are in the final stages of completion. The Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering (ISE) Lab, the two new East Campus residence halls, the complete renovation of Alison Hall and the expansion/renovation of Carpenter Sports Building will all be completed and placed in service over the next few months. Lots of hard work has gone into developing these facilities, so I thank everyone who has played a role.
Finally, we’re starting to see significant visible progress with our STAR Campus. Two of the larger projects – Bloom Energy and the Health Sciences Complex – are progressing very well in construction, and the cutting-edge eV2G project is already on-line. We’re well ahead of where we hoped to be by now, and in a great position to build on our momentum.

These are just a few of the more visible accomplishment of the Facilities & Auxiliary Services team this spring. Thanks for all you do to make this happen!
