Nuestra Sneora de la Esperenza means Our Lady of Hope. There are Roman Catholic parishes located in Panama that are named after Our Lady of Hope. There are also parks that are named after Our Lady of Hope. It is said that she appears to her believers four times a year. She appears the first Saturday of the month of April, the first Saturday of July, the first Saturday of October, and December 12th. She appears at a holy place of pilgrimage located at the valley of Media Luna, in the district of Portobelo. People come to confess their sins and receive the Eucharist. The place of pilgrimage has been named the first Marian sanctuary of Panama.
