News and Upcoming Events:

Please note the friendly reminders from administration about coming to lunch with your child...

**School wide, Fridays tend to be the busiest day for parents to eat lunch with their child. If you can come on a different day of the week it will increase your chances of having a seat at lunch. We can only allow parents/guests to eat at the parent table that is provided or in the courtyard.

**Our site base team discussed and decided that we will no longer allow lunch visitors to bring lunch from fast food restaurants. You are welcome to visit your child for lunch and bring lunch from home or purchase lunch in the cafeteria. (From page 4 of the student handbook at the front of your child's agenda)

Snack

  • A daily working snack will be in the morning. Please send in a nutritious snack. This must be a quick snack and not requiring utensils. Nothing messy or syrupy as we do not want to attract ants! Water bottles are encouraged in my classroom. They may be accessed throughout the day during non-direct instructional time. Students will take the water bottles home on Fridays to ensure they are properly washed.

Scholastic Books

  • Most months, I will send home a Scholastic Book order. Scholastic is a convenient and inexpensive way to put books into your child's hands. Orders earn our class Bonus Points toward new books for our classroom library. For your convenience, you can order online. You will need to choose the club you are ordering from and enter the quantity for the titles. You may also send in your orders with payment made out to Scholastic Books.

Tuesday Folder

  • Students will bring home their red Tuesday Folder each week with the previous week's graded work. This folder will also contain any additional information being sent home from the school. Please review this folder, sign the front page of the folder, and return it to school on Wednesday.

Homework

  • Homework is an extension of skills taught in the classroom. Single assignments should not exceed more than 30 minutes. In addition, your child is expected to read each night. Currently, we are reading 30 minutes nightly. Students will have homework most week nights. Work is the student's responsibility. If the homework is too hard, please write a note in their agenda. There should be "no tears at the kitchen table."

Reading Log

  • Reading Logs are to be handed in regularly.

MORNING CAR RIDER LINE

Please help us celebrate your child's independence by allowing them to get out of the car in the car rider line in the morning in lieu of walking them to the door. I understand it seems small, but as more parents walk students to the door it slows down the car line and we worry about everyone's safety as you make your way from the car to the school entrance. We understand helping to bring in supplies or projects from time to time. At no time will students be allowed to be dropped off in the visitor parking spaces or in the bus lot. Please understand safety is the driving force of these policies that have been in place at Rea View for many years. Please understand the bigger picture as we are welcoming over 650 students into the building safely everyday, so procedures need to be in place that everyone should follow to ease this process daily. Thank you for your help with this matter.
