Band Boosters

The CATA Band Booster organization works throughout the year to support our student musicians in the form of organizing parent volunteers to assist the band with transportation, fundraising, and celebrating. Participation in the CATA Band Booster organization can be as simple as chaperoning a field trip, sending in snacks for marching camp, or helping sell spirit wear at a football game. Parents who wish to be involved on a larger scale might consider serving as a committee chair or taking on a leadership role in our booster board. Regardless of your talents and no matter how busy your schedule, there is a place for you to serve our music students with the CATA Band Booster organization.

The best way to support your child’s music education is to STAY INFORMED. You are encouraged to check WEEKLY for announcements, event details, assignments, student progress and news in the following places:

 Volunteer Opportunities 

(Required by UCPS for any parents that will interact with students during rehearsals, class, chaperoning. Not required to attend concerts, football games, banquets, and booster meetings)


Sponsorship Crew (Year Long)
Consider supporting the Band of Blue financially if none of the other parent cougar crews are a good fit for you. 
- Donating $15 will purchase a band shirt for a student in need
- Donating $35 will purchase a pair of marching shoes for a student in need
- Donating $150 will cover the cost of marching camp fees for one band student


Fundraising Crew (Year Long)
Find local businesses and restaurants to sponsor the CATA band program. Assist with the planning and implementation of band fundraising efforts under the leadership of Mr. Retzlaff and fundraising chair. 


Snack Crew (Year Long)
Help set up, clean up and serve snacks and meals to marching band students during band camp AND/OR send in pre-packaged snacks or bottled water for after-school rehearsals, games, and/or field trips. Contact our parent volunteer/communication coordinator to get involved!

Transportation Crew (Year Long)
Organize and implement transportation of instruments and equipment to and from home football games and other band events. Contact our transportation chair to help out!

Uniform Crew (Marching Band)
Assist with fitting, sizing, cleaning and mending of uniforms. Help uniform chair  with distribution and collection of uniforms. Contact our uniform committee chair to get involved!

Senior Night Crew (Marching Band)
Plan and implement the celebration held during the football game on senior night to honor our marching seniors and their parents. Contact our hospitality chair to help!

Band Banquet Crew (Spring Semester)
Assist with organizing and implementing a dinner banquet held at the end of the school year to celebrate a year of music and honor graduating seniors. Contact our hospitality chair to help!



This Facebook page is a closed group (need approval by the director to join) and is dedicated to the CATA Band Program.  Current students, alumni and parents are welcome to become members and stay informed throughout the school year.  Below is a list of guidelines and a code of ethics for being a member of the Facebook page:

- The goal of the CATA Band Program is to keep members up-to-date with important events throughout the school year, implement a sense of community and pride and celebrate accomplishments.

- The CATA Band Facebook Page adheres to and implements the UCPS BOE Policy on social media conduct and cyberbullying.  By being a member, you consent that you completed the UCPS photo/media release form (students). If you do not have one on file at school please take of this before joining the Facebook group. 

- The Facebook page is NOT to be used for the following:

    - Give opinions about policies and procedures of the Band Program (please email or meet with the director)
    - Ask questions that are individual and do not pertain to the entire band (please email or meet with the director)
    - Post topics, pictures or media that are politically based or offensive to others. (At the discretion of the Director)
    - Post pictures of others that may serve or be intented to embarrass or harass others (Cyber-bullying)
    - Post items that are not related to serving the page's goals listed other (At the discretion of the Director)

Failure to adhere to this may result in posts being removed, members being removed and blocked from the Facebook group page or result in student disciplinary action by the school administration.  If you have any questions about these policies, please do not hesitate to contact the director.
