"Cape Cod and the Islands", referring to Cape Cod and the islands of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard, is a small region of the United States which has been popularized nowadays by tourists and vacationers.  While many flock to the region for its quaint towns, seafood shacks, and beaches, often times its rich nautical history is forgotten or pushed to the wayside.   Cape Cod, Nantucket, and Martha's Vineyard have been the sites of countless historical events and practices which were invaluable to not only the regional history, but the maritime history of the United States of America as a whole.
