Expiration of User Accounts

For security purposes as well as licensing/cost issues, the Office of Technology takes action to expire and delete unused accounts.   The following list indicates the types of accounts and their schedules for expiration and deletion:

 

Regular, Full Time Faculty = No expiration date.  Upon employee separation from the University, Supervisory Access procedures take effect.

 

Adjunct Faculty = Expires 9/30 each year.  

 

Regular, Full Time Staff = No expiration date.  Upon employee separation from the University, Supervisory Access procedures take effect.

 

Temporary Staff = Expire 5/31 each year.

 

Graduate Assistants = Expire 5/31 each year.

 

Student Workers = Expire 5/31 each year.

 

Emeriti = Expire on 6/30 three years after current year of retirement.  Example:  Retire 4/9/15, Account expires on 6/30/18.

 

External/Vendor = Expire 9/30 each year.

 

Volunteer = Expire 9/30 each year.

 

NOTE: Supervisors may request the expiration/deletion of accounts at any time, and should do so when an employee separates from the University before their account is scheduled to expire.  For example, if a student worker is expected to return for the Spring semester, but does not, his/her supervisor should submit an Computer Account Request Form to expire the account before the standard May 31 expiration date.
