Eligibility
SERI was designed in partnership with Spellman College and Jackson State University.  Application is currently available only to full-time students from these two institutions.

Applicants must:
  • be full-time undergraduate students in their junior or senior year or Masters' students at Spellman College or Jackson State University
  • be interested in pursuing a graduate degree in an area related to education research
  • have an overall GPA of 3.2 or higher

To apply, please follow the instructions below. All materials (except for the application form under #1, which you will submit online) must be submitted by November 15th 2015 to the following email address: seri@uci.edu

  2. Submit a curriculum vitae or resume
  3. Submit unofficial transcripts
  4. Ask a  faculty member at your institution to submit a letter of recommendation for you. Please have the faculty fill in this form and email the letter to Dr. Rossella Santagata @ seri@uci.edu
  5. Submit recommendation waiver (use this form
  6. Submit a personal statement explaining why you are interested in the SERI program. The statement should not exceed two typed, double-spaced pages, 12 pt. font and should include the following: educational goals, research interests, prior research experience (if applicable), and future professional and personal objectives. Also, please indicate if you have any particular experiences that qualify you to work with specific faculty mentors and any additional information that may aid the selection committee in evaluating your preparation, potential, and aptitude for graduate studies.

Up to five student interns will be selected to participate in the program. Finalists and wait-listed students will be notified by December 1, 2015.
