Required by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

Immunizations records need to be approved by the school nurse before a student may enter school.

Effective August 1, 2017, state-level immunization requirements go into effect which intend to further ensure the children attending school in the Commonwealth are adequately protected against potential outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases.

Students who do not meet the  vaccine requirements within five days of beginning school will NOT be permitted to attend any school until the vaccine requirements are met.

Highlights of the vaccine requirement changes include:
  • All students: Four doses of the polio vaccine with the last dosage administered on or after the fourth birthday and at least six months after the previous dose (previously only 3 doses were required).

  • Students in Grades 7 through 12: In addition to the seventh-grade meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV), a second dose of the MCV is required before the first day of grade 12.

Whenever your child receives additional immunizations, please send the information to the school nurse. If you do not have insurance or if your insurance does not cover immunizations, please contact the Chester County Health Department at 610 344-6225.
