[9/18/2015] UALR CSC team will be competing in 2015 CSAW CTF qualifier this weekend

UALR CSC will go for another major CTF event! Ten CSC members have already got ready for the 2-day battle of 2015 CSAW CTF online qualification round starting 5 (CST) this afternoon. Go, CSC!

[9/12/2015] UALR CSC teams competed in 2015 MITRE College Star CTF (Capture the Flag)

Two teams formed by UALR CSC members finished strong in the 2015 MITRE College Star CTF Competition that just ended. One team with 5 members secured the 8th place and the other team with only 2 members got the 20th. Total 96 teams over the country participated in this one-and-a-half-day competition, 2 - 10 pm on Sept. 11 & 6 am - 10 pm on Sept. 12.

The team "Zero Access" include Nathan Ellis, Dylan Hailey, Tommy Haycraft, Andrew Lewis, and Connor Young. The team "The Citadel" consists of Brandon Gray and Jeffery Wooldridge. Congratulations to all of you! Great job!

[3/9/2015] UALR CSC team ranked 5th in 2015 Southwest Regional Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition

The UALR CCDC team proved their skills and capabilities in cyber operation and defense last weekend in the 2015 Southwest Regional CCDC held in San Antonio, TX.

Total 9 teams/universities from 4 states (Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico) participated and the UALR CCDC team landed at No. 5, which is a great achievement for a team competing there for the first time.

The UALR CCDC team include Vineet Agrawal (graduate), Nathan Ellis, Team Captain Dylan Hailey, Tommy Haycraft, Andrew Lewis, Yanyan Li (graduate), Jeffery Wooldridge, and Connor Young. Congratulations to all of you!

[2/14/2015] UALR CSC team won a ticket to the 2015 Southwest Regional Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition

The UALR CCDC team just did a great job today in the qualifier of the 2015 Southwest Regional CCDC and won one of nine tickets to the regional final competition to be held in San Antonio, TX on March 7-8.

Total 18 teams/universities from four states (Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico) participated in today's qualifier. The UALR CCDC team is the only team from Arkansas.

The UALR CCDC team include Vineet Agrawal (graduate), Nathan Ellis, Team Captain Dylan Hailey, Tommy Haycraft, Andrew Lewis, Yanyan Li (graduate), Jeffery Wooldridge, and Connor Young. Congratulations to all of you!

[10/26/2014] UALR CSC team tops in the service part at the cyber-defense competition

Today, an invitational cyber-defense competition was held along with the 6th CANSEC workshop at Lawrence, KS. Five teams from six universities at Arkansas, Kansas, and Missouri were invited to attend the competition, and UALR CSC is one of them.

This is the first real competition since CSC was created and UALR CSC tops the other four teams in the service! A real big achievement!

[10/25/2014] CSC member presented at the 6th CANSEC Workshop

Yanyan Li, a PhD student of computer science and the vice president of the cyber security club at UALR, presented his work on web authentication using camera today at the 6th Central Area Networking and Security Workshop held at Lawrence, KS.

Another Computer Science MS student, Vineet Agrawal, also attended the workshop.

[10/23/2014] Three CSC members awarded travel grants to attend security workshop

Three CSC members--Vineet Agrawal, Tommy Haycraft, and Yanyan Li--have been awarded travel grants to attend the 6th Central Area Networking and Security Workshop and Cyber-Defense Competition to be held at Lawrence, KS this weekend.

Correction made on 10/29/2014: Another CSC member Andrew Lewis was also awarded the travel grant. So, total four members got awards.

[2/7/2014] Official Student Organization

Today UALR's CCDC Club has become an official Student Organization at UALR. We have taken on a new name as well, UALR Cyber Security Club. Our current officers are:

    • Dylan Hailey - President

    • Yanyan Li - Vice President

    • Andrew Lewis - Treasurer

    • Connor Young - Secretary

Our first official meeting as a student organization will be on February 21st, 2014.

[2/1/2014] Game Day

The 2014 Southwest Regional CCDC virtual qualifier finally came. UALR team was assigned to the second session (3-9 PM). The competition is a bit bumpy; our session started around 4:30, about one and a half hours behind the schedule due to technical glitches. The whole team did a great job even though we didn't win a ticket to San Antonio, TX for the regional final. Significant improvement has been achieved and the team becomes much stronger and more confident through this competition!

Thank every one of you--Dylan Hailey, Andrew Lewis, Yanyan Li, Andrew Sindle, Connor Young, and Richard Young--for your great time and dedication to this event. UALR is proud of you!

[1/18/2014] Practice times for 2014 Southwest Regional CCDC virtual qualifier

UALR has got four prime time slots for practice. We will have Pod 5 at the 1-5PM slot on 1/19, 1/21, 1/23 and at the 8AM-12PM slot on 1/28. More information can be found at the organizing website.

[11/22/2013] UALR will compete in 2014 Southwest Regional CCDC

2014 Southwest Regional CCDC is coming! You can get information about this event at http://southwestccdc.org/. I have registered UALR CCDC team for the event as the faculty advisor.

As of now, 15 teams have registered.

Again, our team is the only team from Arkansas! Now it is the time to form the team for this competition.

[1/25/2013] The Day for the 2013 Southwest Regional CCDC Qualifier

It is a long day, eight hours from 9 to 5! Our guys (Ali Al-Uraiby, Omar Berumen, Matt Kennett (Captain), Andrew Sindle, and Connor Young) tried their best to defend against wave after wave of cyber attacks. Some pictures taken during the event can be seen in the Activities.

Guys, Well done! UALR is very proud of you. Dr. Yoshigoe and I really appreciate your devotion and efforts.
