Thank you to the 230 people who registered for the 2017 conference.

The registration portal is now closed.

We already have 225 attendees, and more continue to register. We are approaching our capacity, so please register as soon as possible.

We also have good news for people outside of Edmonton who need help with travel costs. The Writing Stick organizers now have funding in place for limited support to assist with travel costs. Support will be awarded on a first-come first-served basis. The organizers will reimburse up to 50% of economy airfare, train tickets, bus fares, or receipted gas expenses for people attending the conference and residing outside of Edmonton. To apply, please email Cathie Crooks at with your estimated costs.

WGA Conference follows The Writing Stick
One of our partner organizations, the Writers' Guild of Alberta, has its annual conference immediately following The Writing Stick, in the same location. Take a look at what is on offer! There will be over a dozen authors sharing their talents and experiences in fiction, short story, poetry, and journalism through keynote speeches, author interviews, panel discussions and more. June 10 and 11 at Lister Centre, University of Alberta.
