Sadok El Ghoul est professeur titulaire en administration des affaires au Campus Saint-Jean de l’Université de l’Alberta où il enseigne la finance, le commerce international et l’économétrie. Il a obtenu son M.B.A. et son Ph.D. de l’Université  Laval. Avant de rejoindre l’Université de l’Alberta, il a enseigné la gestion financière internationale à l’Université Laval. Ses intérêts de recherche incluent la finance d’entreprise, la régie d’entreprise, la responsabilité sociale de l’entreprise, la finance internationale, les institutions financières et le rôle de la culture dans les marchés financiers. Ses travaux ont été publiés dans des revues de finance, de management, de commerce international, d’éthique des affaires et de comptabilité telles que Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Review of Finance, Management Science, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Business Ethics, The Accounting Review et Contemporary Accounting Research. Il a reçu le professorat McCalla à l’Université de l’Alberta au cours de l’année universitaire 2013-2014. Il a remporté plusieurs prix académiques tels que le prix Moskowitz pour le meilleur article sur l’investissement socialement responsable décerné en 2011, le prix du meilleur article sur les institutions financières à la conférence de la Southwestern Finance Association octroyé en 2012, le prix du meilleur article de Korea Development Bank à la Conference on Asia–Pacific Financial Markets obtenu en 2013, le prix du meilleur article au World Business Ethics Forum obtenu en 2016 et le prix du meilleur article sur les marchés émergents à la conférence de l'Academy of International Business obtenu en 2018. Il est rédacteur au Journal of Banking & Finance et à Emerging Markets Review ainsi que membre des comités de rédaction de plusieurs autres revues scientifiques. En 2017, il a reçu le Martha Cook Piper Research Prize qui est attribué à deux professeurs de l’Université de l’Alberta en début de carrière. 

Bio (English)

Sadok El Ghoul is a Professor of Business Administration at Campus Saint-Jean of the University of Alberta, where he teaches finance, international business and econometrics. He received his M.B.A. and Ph.D. from Laval University. Before joining the University of Alberta, he taught international financial management at Laval University. His research interests include corporate finance, corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, international finance, financial institutions, and the role of culture in financial markets. His work has been published in finance, management, international business, business ethics and accounting journals such as Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Review of Finance, Management Science, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Business Ethics, The Accounting Review and Contemporary Accounting Research. Prof. El Ghoul received the McCalla Professorship at the University of Alberta in 2013-2014. He has won several awards including the Moskowitz Prize for the Best Paper in Socially Responsible Investing in 2011, the best paper award in financial institutions at the Southwestern Finance Association conference in 2012, the Korea Development Bank outstanding paper award at the Conference on Asia–Pacific Financial Markets in 2013, the best paper award at the World Business Ethics Forum in 2016, and the best paper award in emerging economies research at the Academy of International Business meeting in 2018. He is an associate editor at the Journal of Banking & Finance, a subject editor at Emerging Markets Review, and an editorial board member of several other academic journals. In 2017, he received the Martha Cook Piper Research Prize, which recognizes two University of Alberta faculty members in the early stage of their careers.
