Welcome to the RNAi Core, located in the Li Ka Shing Institute of Virology at the University of Alberta.  Our main goal is to facilitate high-throughput genome-wide RNAi screens in fly, mouse, and human cell culture assays. We also have extensive experience conducting small molecule screens.

Through our facility, we provide technical support in the planning, execution, and analysis of RNAi screens.  We also provide users access to RNAi libraries and infrastructure such as automated liquid handling systems, plate washers and readers, and a high content scanner.  One of our liquid handling systems is enclosed in a custom built Class II biosafety cabinet, so we have the capacity to conduct screens involving BSL2 cell culture.

RNAi screens are potent tools for the identification of novel components of cellular pathways. We have prepared a brief guide that outlines common themes in the design, execution, and evaluation of RNAi screens.
