Questions Arising from the Interdisciplinary Research Process

Revisiting the various steps in the interdisciplinary research process is useful here. We can then assess whether these steps have been performed appropriately. Our understanding of the interdisciplinary research process suggests that research should be evaluated in terms of several questions:

· Is the guiding question important?

· Were relevant steps performed?

· Were relevant strategies employed?

· Were relevant disciplines consulted, and relevant theories and methods engaged?

· Were theories and methods described and/or employed accurately?

· Were results expressed in an appropriate manner for intended audiences?

· Was clear terminology employed and any jargon both necessary and carefully defined?
