The Native Studies Students' Association (NSSA) serves the needs of students in the Faculty of Native Studies
at the University of Alberta and students enrolled in Native Studies
courses.
We acknowledge our University and Students’ Union are located on Treaty 6 Territory. We are grateful to be on Blackfoot, Cree, Nakota Sioux, Saulteaux, and Métis Nation territory; specifically the ancestral space of the Papaschase Cree. These Nations are our family, friends, faculty, staff, students, and peers. As members of the University of Alberta Students’ Union we honour the nation-to-nation treaty relationship. We aspire for our learning, research, teaching, and governance to respect Indigenous knowledges and traditions working towards a decolonial future.
Mission
The NSSA will remain consistent with the Faculty of Native Studies philosophy of study to provide a common ground for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal students to study the historical experiences and the
contemporary lives, identities, rights and goals of Indigenous peoples in Canada and internationally.
