Life Among the Qallunaat  just won the Mary Scorer Award for best book by a Manitoba publisher. Here's what the judges said:

“Part of the University of Manitoba Press’ First Voices, First Texts series, Freeman’s tale of growing up in the James Bay Inuit community and subsequent move to Ottawa to work as a translator is told in an inimitable voice with remarkable candour.”

– Melanie Brannagan Frederiksen, Ben MacPhee-Sigurdson, and Dave Reynolds, judges, The Mary Scorer Award for Best Book by a Manitoba Publisher.
