The Ingham Lab looking for ambitious and motivated students to fill a number of summer student research positions. One project is aimed at understanding how a class of poxvirus proteins function as virulence factors, whereas another investigates how dysregulated cellular signalling contributes to the pathobiology of B and T cell lymphomas. Fall Giant Microbe Sale

Fresh off of reading week, IMINSA is hosting their Fall Semester Giant Microbe sale! Come down, say hi, and find your new Giant Microbe friend to help cope with the end of the best week on Earth. You could even get a head start on your Christmas gift shopping. We'll be hosting the sale over several days, so feel free to drop in whenever!

IMINSA Karaoke Night!

Not sure how to kick off your reading week? On the 10th of November (this Friday!) come socialize and sing with your immunology and infection peers at RATT. Bring your enthusiasm and your awesome (or not so awesome) singing voices! Event starts at 8:00 pm, Karaoke starts at 9:00 pm.

MMI Annual Student Recruitment Event

Calling all student researchers! The Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology will be holding its Annual Student Recruitment Event on Monday, November 27th from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. The event will consist of a brief presentation in 6-003 A and B Katz, followed by a one-on-one poster presentation outside the MMI office.

Attending the event is a great way to connect with professors if you happen to be interested in a summer studentship or would like to undertake a 499 research project, and would allow you to get a wide scope of the research topics focused on within the department.

Hey Everyone, Hope you're all taking some time to relax now that exams are completed!
For those of you considering graduate studies, Dr Maya Shmulevitz of the MMI department
is currently looking for two students for projects 1 and 3 in her Viral Oncolytics program which
combine aspects of virology, molecular & cell biology, protein structure/function
analysis and cancer biology!

In addition, many of you may be interested in the 2nd Li Ka Shing Institute of Virology Symposium on May 30th which

New Research Positions at the University of Calgary!

Dr. Jeroen De Buck, an Associate Professor of Veterinary Medicine at U of Calgary is looking for candidates
to fill research positions in his lab varying from Summer studentships to Post-doctorates! Some of his projects include coagulase negative staph infections and their impact on dairy cows, or investigations towards succeptability of Johne's disease in cattle and measures to control infections. Im pleased to announce that the Immunology and Infection Students Association is back with another
Giant Microbe sale! Just in time for Valentines Day, you can pick up your favorite STI for someone special,
or just that Microbe you skipped out on last sale! All proceeds are going towards funding the IMIN Grad Banquet! In addition, any U of A student may volunteer for the sale and receive a discount on any microbes they wish to purchase while spending time meeting other IMIN or science students.
