Student Placement Process

Welcome to CSL!  Please follow the steps below to start your CSL Student Placement Process.  

Note:  If you are taking a CSL 480 course or a Non-Credit Opportunity, select the appropriate link to the left.  


STEP 1 - Explore placements on the CSL Portal (please register with your uAlberta CCID and password).
STEP 2 - Review the Student Placement Process.
STEP 3 - Confirm your placement with your instructor.
STEP 4 - Read the Student Guidebook.
STEP 5 - Sign up for your placement.
STEP 6 - Schedule a meeting with your community partner supervisor ASAP to begin your placement.  REMEMBER to discuss: a timeline, a communication plan, and any deliverables.
STEP 7 - When you're finished your placement, fill out the Student Completion Form together with your community partner.  
STEP 8 - Submit your Student Completion Form to your instructor by the end of term.

Submit only one form for each class you are taking (unless you have had a change in your assigned placement).   If you will be working with more than one community organization in any one class, put the name of both organizations in the Community Placement box below. 

Once you submit the form below, you will see an auto response message on your screen which contains information about the next steps to take.  You may want to save this message by copying and pasting it into a document or email.
