I am a professor of computer science at the Facultad de Ciencias, Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC) in Ensenada, B.C., Mexico, where I lead the Technologies for Ambient Intelligence (TAI) research group, where I have the privilege to work with very talented people. Currently, I am also Subdirector of the Facultad de Ciencias, UABC.

I am affiliated to the MyDCI Computer Sciences graduate program (PhD and MSc) and to the Computer Sciences undergraduate program (BSc). 

My research interests include Human-Computer Interaction, Mobile and Ubiquitous Computing, CSCW and Software Engineering.

My research focuses on the design and evaluation of AmI technologies for healthcare and software engineering. 

Our research group conducts fieldwork studies to gain a better understanding of current work practices and based on this understanding, designs and evaluates appropriate AmI computing technologies for diverse work environments. These environments include hospitals, nursing homes, and software development companies.

I hold a BSc from Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC), a MSc from Centro de Investigación Científica y Educación Superior de Ensenada (CICESE), and a PhD from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble (INPG). More recently, I have also made a post-doctoral stay at CICESE.

I am member (Level 1) of the National System of Researchers (SNI) CONACyT, member of the Thematic Network on ICT’s  (Red TIC) CONACyT, and former Vocal of the Mesa Directiva of the Mexican Computer Science Society (SMCC).
