Asian NU 2012
ASIAN NU 2012 is a profile of the Asian American undergraduate community at Northwestern University in 2012. It starts with an introduction of a student movement called the Asian NU Project, which strives to bridge the disconnect within the Asian community. Interviews show the student leaders of campus cultural groups as they address diversity and unity and reflect on the racial climate of Northwestern. In an attempt to answer the question, "Why do Asians only hang out with Asians?", the video explores cultural group collaboration, the role of friendships in student organizing and the aspects that make the Asian American community unique.
The Asian American community faces some distinct issues - such as the integration of international students - due to its diversity compared to other racial groups on campus. However, the friendships that drive collaboration and organization of its cultural groups are not unique to any one ethnic group.
