Craig Rodgerson
Durand, MI
Craig Rodgerson has been in kiting for over 30 years. He enjoys meeting new friends when lines get tangled on the field. Craig is the former AKA Midwest Sport Kite Commissioner.
One place special that Craig remembers flying is in Dieppe, France in the 2016 Night Fly. Craig flew a Dice Cube when the Night Fly was rained out and nothing else would fly! He has built over 150 Dice in the last 30 years. The same shape kite has been used for a "Puzzle (roobic) Cube" and BABY Blocks.
Craig looks at different kite shapes and tries to find the designs within the limitations of the platforms he is building. He started playing with the "stain glass" effect when doing the Kitebuilder.com online workshop of Bernd Post's Phoenix and created a monarch Butterfly pattern.
Using ideas from Paul & Helene Morgan's "Tardis" and Grandia/Toonen's Drumboxes, he developed his Outhouse and Soup Can.
During the Covid lockdown Craig went Medieval on kites. He started experimenting with Stain Glass Windows to decorate a Double ParaSled. He has refined the techniques and added panels to Pocket Sleds and Delta kites.
Craig is also a personal assistant to his cat, Henry, a difficult job with Henry's catitudelity.
