Welcome Letter

Dear Parents,

My name is Heather Hart and I will be your child’s teacher for the 2018-2019 school year at the Trumbull Early Childhood Education Center (TECEC). I am very excited about working with your child and look forward to a year filled with learning, laughing, singing and exploring. Our classroom is #125, which is located down the hallway second to last door on your right. The first day of school is Thursday, August 30th.

Our preschool program teaches a curriculum based on monthly themes, which focuses on building a strong foundation of the pre-readiness skills needed for Kindergarten such as academics, language, social/emotional, gross and fine motor skills. You will receive monthly letters to inform you of our thematic units and concepts we are learning, as well as the fun activities we have planned for the class. In addition, you will also receive daily notices via email on activities we did during the preschool day. This provides you with an opportunity to ask your child more specific questions on what he/she did at school.

Also, please dress your child in SNEAKERS and play clothes every day, so that your child may successfully play on our playground and participate in group PT. Other types of shoes or fancy clothes hinder your child’s safety.

Please send the following items to stay in the classroom:

  1. A complete set of clothes labeled (including socks and underwear) in a zip-lock bag (we will send these home as the season changes in case of any accidents or spills)
  2. Also, a labeled paint smock - an old adult tee shirt is preferred.
  3. Two current pictures of your child, a baby picture and family picture
  4. To help keep us all healthy: please send in tissue boxes, paper towels and baby wipes used to clean up the tables throughout the school day.
  5. Any size plastic baggies: snack size, sandwich, quart or gallon can be used during snack time. Utensils (forks and spoons) are used during snack time.

Please send in with your child daily:

  1. A backpack, large enough to hold a lunchbox for snack time, a folder and art work.
  2. A small lunchbox with a healthy snack – nut and peanut free and a drink.
  3. A folder for notices.

If you have any questions, concerns, or good news you would like to share with me, feel free to write them in the notebook or you can e-mail me at hhart@trumbullps.org. My teacher web site can be located at http://sites.google.com/a/trumbullps.org/miss-heather-s-class/. You will find helpful information such as the monthly letter, our class schedule, a wish list etc.

Thank you and I look forward to a fantastic school year.

Sincerely,

Heather Hart
