Important Supporting Materials or Must Reads
A Detailed Definition of Competency Education -- This is a concise explanation of the 5 design principles behind proficiency based education. Over the next year we will address all 5 of the principles.

Competency Works Briefing Papers -- These are in depth explorations and explanations of different part of proficiency based education. They are all information dense, but give the best information on different aspects of PBE. I have only read two of the papers so far:
"Implementing Competency Based Education in K-12 Systems", this is a big picture systems change explanation. It would be important for the leadership team to read. "Introductory Resources on Competency Based Education," is much quicker read covering the major components of PBE.

The Art of Education
-- A site dedicated to helping teachers think about planning with the new arts standards.
The Artful Backward Planner -- A planning process from the Minneapolis Public Schools.
Glossary of Terms -- This is a list of terms we will use in the new PBE model. These terms were defined by a consortium of 10 supervisory unions in the Rutland area and represent our attempts to build a coherent understanding of Proficiency Based Education.

Science Links
Developing Coherent Storylines -- This a planning model the science leadership in Vermont is starting to get behind.
