Thanks for visiting!
My dream of becoming an art teacher began when I was in 8th grade, but I've made other choices as well. While in high school I enjoyed working in retail stores and after graduation I started climbing the retail ladder of success. I worked my way up to earn a position as a buyer in Chicago's Loop. I also worked as a freelance artist, custom-framer, and art instructor. During this time I met and married my husband, John. We started a business together allowing him to perform music full-time as an entertainer. The business flourished and I soon decided it was time for me to go back to school to pursue teaching.
I completed my associate's degree in art and elementary education at JJC and earned a full academic scholarship to Governors State University. Upon graduation I earned my K-9 teacher certification for elementary education, visual arts and English language arts. Later that year, in 2006, I began teaching at Troy Middle School.
I consider myself very fortunate to work in the Troy district which strongly supports academics, athletics, and the arts. I live in the district with my husband, John, a talented singer-guitarist who always makes me laugh, and our two loveable cats, Jaco & Charlie. Teaching art is my way to guide & support students to live their best life. I am grateful to be living out my purpose and strive to give every student a positive experience in art.
