Pupil Deprivation Grant

 Troedyrhiw Community Primary School received £35 802 in the financial year 2014-15 as part of the Pupil Deprivation Grant. In 2013-14 the school received £19 800.

 The school has a comprehensive plan, which is agreed and monitored by CSC and LA MTCBC, to support disadvantaged pupils.

 Our plan centres on the following priorities:

  1. Improving literacy and numeracy skills
  2. Maximising the quality of teaching

3.       Improving tracking systems to support individual progress, including tracking of disadvantaged pupils’ well-being.

4.       Developing strategies that involve the family and community.

 Improving literacy and numeracy skills

  • Employ HLTA to implement literacy and numeracy interventions / class support
  • Implement literacy, numeracy and well-being interventions
  • Implement robust and effective tracking systems to support and monitor the attainment of disadvantaged pupils

 Maximising the quality of teaching

  • Further embed co-coaching strategies across whole school
  • Implement and further develop quality feedback to pupils
  • Provide ICT resources to support pupil feedback and responses.

 Improving tracking systems to support individual progress, including tracking of disadvantaged pupils’ well-being.

  • Implement revised well-being tracker and graduated response
  • Implement restorative practices
  • Monitor impact of well-being provision

 Developing strategies that involve the family and community

·         Establish role of Family Liaison Officer and community Council to support parents and the local community in their child’s education

·         Provide enriched learning opportunities

·         Improve school web-site to provide parents with a wide range of advice material (academic, health, psychological) to support their children.

 

The Pupil Deprivation Grant (PDG) has supported improvement in the performance of disadvantaged learners at end of Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2 results.
