If you are filling out scholarship applications watch the deadlines closely.
Some scholarships may be due early in the Guidance Office and require the counselor or secretary to fill out or send additional information with the scholarship.

Trenton High School – Class of 2014 Scholarship Listing

Horatio Alger Scholarship                                                                                                         9/2

• Due Date:  October 11, 2013 (Apply online at www.horatioalger.org/scholarships)

• Amount: $5,000-$20,000

• This scholarship is given to students who have a financial need, exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity.

• Applicants must complete a bachelor’s degree and United States Citizenship

• In order for the application to be considered complete Mrs. Crouse must complete a certification form online.  Students must have the online application completed by Friday, October 11th to allow Mrs. Crouse enough time to complete her portion of the application.      

 

The Hagan Scholarship                                                                                                             9/2

• Due Date: November 1, 2013.  (Apply online www.hsfmo.org)

• Must have a 3.50 GPA or higher

• Must enroll in college the first semester after school

• Must work 240 hours prior to the start of each academic year of college

• Applicant must complete the FAFSA in 2013 using 2012 tax information

• FAFSA Expected Family Contribution must be less than $7,500.

• Students must have the application completed in its entirety by November 1. Please notify Mrs. Crouse if you are working on this application due to the complexity of the application process.  

 
 MSBA FutureBuilders Belcher Scholarship                                                                        10/10

• November 8, 2013

• Amount:  Local Winner $250.00

                  Regional Winner $750.00

                  Statewide Winner $1500.00  

• The Board of Education will only select ONE applicant based on their academic achievements, leadership abilities and the quality of the applicant’s written essay. 

• After reviewing The Climate, Culture and Organizational Efficacy section of the Vision for Missouri Public Education’s Report (pages 10 and 11 of the report) the student will need to explain how the climate and culture of schools support a positive learning environment.   

A copy of the application that students can fill in the blank and print off is available from Mrs. Dougan.  A copy will be emailed to any student interested in completing the application process.  

    

BelcherApplication

 Hy-Vee Foundation Scholarship                                                                                            10/10

• February 10, 2014 (Postmarked)

• Amount:  $1,000

• Applicant must be a high school senior working for Hy-Vee or subsidiary who began employment on or before September 15, 2013 or a high school senior son and/or daughter of a full, regular, or part-time Hy-Vee or subsidiary employee who has a minimum of six months employment as of September 15, 2013, and enrolling in college for the first time. 

• A personal reference from a teacher, counselor or administrator is required.

• Contact Mrs. Dougan for a copy of your official high school transcript which should include your first semester senior grades.

• Students are responsible for completing the application accurately, and submission of all materials to be postmarked to the Hy-Vee Foundation.  

• Applications are available in the Guidance Department or at Hy-Vee.

Lillie Lois Ford Scholarship Fund

• Due Date:  April 11, 2014

• Amount:  $1,000.00

• Must have attended a full session of the Missouri Girls State, Missouri Boys State or the Missouri Cadet Patrol Academy

• Must be a descendent of a veteran having served 90 days on active duty in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard, and having an honorable discharge. 

• A copy of the veteran’s discharge or separation notice must be submitted with the application. 

• This scholarship may be obtained on the web at www.missourilegion.org.

 M.D. “Jack” Murphy Memorial Nurses Training Scholarship

• Due Date:  April 11, 2014

• Amount:  $750.00

• Must be planning on a career as a Registered Nurse. 

• Must be a descendent of a veteran having served 90 days on active duty in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard, and having an honorable discharge. 

• A copy of the veteran’s discharge or separation notice must be submitted with the application. 

• Applicant must graduate in the top 40% of his/her class.  Counselor’s statement must be attached. 

• This scholarship may be obtained on the web at www.missourilegion.org.

 Joseph J. Frank Scholarship

• Due Date:  April 11, 2014

• Amount:  $500.00

• Applicant must have attended a full session of Missouri Boys/Girls State

• Must be a descendent of a veteran having served 90 days on active duty in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard, and having an honorable discharge. 

• A copy of the veteran’s discharge or separation notice must be submitted with the application.

 Charles L. Bacon Memorial Scholarship

• Due Date:  April 11, 2014

• Amount:  $500.00

• Must be a member of The American Legion Family, Legion Member, Auxiliary Member, S.A.L. Member, or a descendant of any member.

Erman W. Taylor Memorial Scholarship

• Due Date:  April 11, 2014

• Amount:  $500.00

• Applicant must attach a typewritten essay of 500 words or less.  In your opinion, what was the most significant world event of 2013/2014? 

• Must be a descendent of a veteran having served 90 days on active duty in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard, and having an honorable discharge. 

• A copy of the veteran’s discharge or separation notice must be submitted with the application. 

• This scholarship may be obtained on the web at www.missourilegion.org.

Shane Dean Voyles Memorial Scholarship

• Due Date:  April 11, 2014

• Amount: $500.00 ($250.00 each semester)

• Each high school in the state of Missouri may only submit one application for this award.

• Applicant will be selected based on financial need, participation in athletics, participation in school activities/clubs, volunteer work, exceptional leadership qualities, high moral standards and extreme patriotism.
