"Loudness" is the keyword to describe a new method for measuring audio levels.
We used to evaluate levels by looking at the peaks but as it is explained in the second video of the Loudness series, you will see that there is a much better way now.
This new measuring method is much more representative of what the human ear perceives and allows for consistent levels within programs and between programs!

TWR has defined a standard for audio levels, based on Loudness measurement, as follows:

Loudness - What's the matter?

Quiet file

Loud file

Loudness - How does it work?

Loudness - Practically

Peak normalised

Loudness normalised
