Spanish Club

Spanish Club is designed to enhance the Spanish classes. The students participate in cultural activities which will help them learn about and appreciate the Hispanic culture and peoples.

Spanish students have sponsored orphans in and around Tecate, Mexico for a number of years. The students collect money to purchase needed supplies. The year began with the Club Carnival and Homecoming festivities. Near the Day of the Dead fiesta pinatas and sugar skulls were made. The Christmas party includes breaking a pinata, singing Christmas carols in Spanish and a gift exchange. The spring months are celebrated with an International Dinner, movie night, and Worlds of Fun. A Cinco de Mayo assembly with the Ballet Folklorico and other groups is presented in the spring. Through it all, Hispanic food is enjoyed.

The sponsor is Spanish instructor Senora Villadiego.
