Home (Room 214)

About Me:  I started at Topeka High in the Fall of 2013. I graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelors in Secondary English Education in 2012, and with a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with an ESOL Endorsement in the summer of 2013. Currently, I am working on my second Masters from KU in Educational Leadership. I teach English Language Arts with a linguistic-first approach to my teaching. I teach grades 9, 10, and 11.
I enjoy traveling, being active, playing tennis, cooking, and playing with my two dogs. You will usually find me with a cup of coffee in my hand and a smile on my face. If you want to get on my "good-side" you can: show me a funny video, bring me a muffin, or ask me about my dogs!

My School and District Involvement:
  • I sponsor ALAS (The Association of Latin American Students). We currently meet every Monday after school in room 214.
  • I am a Co-Sponsor of National Honor Society (NHS) here at Topeka High School. I began this role in April of 2015 and truly enjoy working with, and getting to know, these wonderfully intelligent and dedicated students.
  • I am a member of the Topeka High School Climate Team. As a member of this team I help plan positive and encouraging activities for students and faculty.
  • I am a member of the Topeka High Equity Committee, whose focus is on bridging the racial divide that could be present in our building. As a part of this committee I have been a part of Courageous Conversations and I have presented at school-wide Professional Development.
  • I helped teach an Adult English Class two nights per week at Topeka High School my first three years at Topeka High School
  • I am on the ELL Curriculum Team, the ELA Curriculum Team, and I am also a member of the district's Innovation Academy.
