Kansas Academic Standards Assessments

The Kansas Academic Standards give school districts a framework to design their curriculum, instruction, testing and teacher development. academic standards spell out what students should know and be able to do at various stages in their schooling.

HIGH PRAISE FOR HPC
Highland Park Central Elementary was the only school in the district to increases on the state assessments in both reading and math at all three tested grade levels from third through fifth grade. Individual student scores are expected in the next sixty days. Parents will be notified when those have been released from the state. Congratulations teachers and students for a job well done!

STUDENT ATTENDANCE
Regular attendance is critical for student success. You can help your child be successful at school, by having them here each day that they are physically able to attend. Class begins at 8:40AM on Monday-Thursday and 9:30AM on Friday.

The Board of Education is committed to limiting the use of Emergency Safety Interventions (ESI), such as seclusion and restraint, with all students. The Board of Education encourages all employees to utilize other behavioral management tools, including prevention techniques, de-escalation techniques, and positive behavioral intervention strategies.
