      Tamil Nadu Agricultural University has established Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell on 26.04.2008 under the ICAR grant at the Directorate of Centre for Agricultural and Rural Development Studies (CARDS). The objectives are (i) to constitute Intellectual Property Management Counsel to facilitate TNAU scientists, farmers, students and other stakeholders; (ii) to identify agricultural products for registration under Patents and Geographical Indications; and (iii) to organize IPR awareness and public outreach programmes. In order to expand the Intellectual Property Rights related activities of the Cell, the Department of Trade and Intellectual Property was established on 01.04.2010 with the following objectives

Objectives

        Imparting skills on identification of inventions with patentability for patent, registration of plant varieties, registration of GI products and other forms of IPRs and international trade issues through educational, research and training programmes which are necessary for students, agricultural scientists and other stakeholders.
