Dean (Forestry)

Thiru.DEEPAK SRIVASTAVA IFS (TN-92) qualified the Civil Services Exam and the Indian Forest Service Exam during the Year 1991. Before joining the civil services he was a lecturer in Botany in a Degree College, Roorkee (Uttarakhand). He has taken over as Dean(Forestry) , Forest College and Research Institute , Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Mettupalayam on 31.05.2017. Prior to this he has worked in different capacities in Forest Department of Tamil Nadu cadre. Apart form working in the State Forest Department, he has also worked in Bhopal Regional Office, Ministry of Environment and Forests for two years and as Dy. Secretary in the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India for four years. In between he has also served as Private Secretary to the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India. While serving as Deputy Secretary to the Govt. of India (Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment), he got an opportunity to represent the International Conferences on drug de-addiction policies held at Srilanka and Manila (Philippines). He also worked as the Chief Vigilance Officer, Mahanadi Coal Fields Limited, Sambalpur (Odisha), Ministry of Coal, Govt. of India for five years from August 2011 to August 2016. Before taking over as Dean (Forestry), TNAU he was CCF and Project Director, Hill Area Development Programme, The Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu. He has keen interest in upliftment of livelihood of the people living in and around the forestry area through an integrated approach involving multi disciplinary agencies.
