Two field trials were completed at Cinnamanur area of   Theni Dt to test the bioefficacy of Metarhizium anisopliae (Bio magic) 1.5 EC against  BPH. The final report was prepared and sent to the sponsor through proper channel, along with weather data for 2015-2016.

The second field trial on bio-efficacy evaluation of Spinetoram + Sulfoxaflor against major pests of grapes has been laid out at Anaipatty village of Uthamapalayam block, near Grapevine Research Station, TNAU, using the variety Muscot, during summer 2016. The crop is at flowering stage. Two rounds of sprays were imposed on 04.03.2016 and 17.03.2016. Apart from pre-treatment count, the post count was on thrips, mealy bugs, flea beetle etc., were recorded on 1, 3, 7, 10 and 15 days after treatment. The field trial is on progress.

ACMDU-AEN -14-008   Effect of foliar application of silicic and salicylic acids on inducing resistance against major pests of rice.

Effect of basal application and foliar spray of silicon sources of fertilizers on population build up of BPH

The results revealed that no.of nymphs of BPH recorded was significantly less in the basal application of calcium silicate 50 kg/ha with salicylic acid (7.2 /tiller ). This was on par with  basal application of calcium silicate 25 kg/ha with salicylic acid (10.6 /tiller which was also on par with calcium silicate     50 kg/ha with silicic acid (11.1 /tiller ). Calcium silicate 25 kg/ha with salicylic acid  and application of rice husk ash 250 kg/ha with salicylic acid were on par with each other. RHC 500 Kg/ha was on par with all treatments mentioned above where total no.of nymphs emerged was 13.3 /tiller as against 32.8/tiller in the untreated check.
