Huntsville Nordic Background
Huntsville High School Nordic Ski team is one of the high school largest athletic programs.  The ski program has been a long part of Huntsville High School's history and in 1992 the program began to grow into a strong provincial contender.  The team has had success at both the provincial and international level in high school competitions.  Dan Roycroft was the first student to race for the National team and at the Torino Olympics, Benjamin Osorio qualified to the National Team Development Centre Callaghan and numerous student-athletes from the program have contributed to the Canadian University racing programs including UBC, Nippissing, Queen's, Toronto, Laurentian, Guelph, Waterloo, Carleton, and Calgary . Student athletes are given the opportunity to enrich and enhance their learning by being part of this unique program.  The team begins training after the autumn sports have finished in early November and will run until the beginning of March.
