Dear TJCA-CFA Families:

We hope you all enjoyed a great Thanksgiving break with family and friends!  As we only have two weeks of school in December before our Christmas break, there are just a few highlights we want to bring to your attention.

If you had an amazing time at the Fall Fest in October, and a blast at the Renaissance Fest in November, you will not want to miss a visit to Santa's House in Forest City in December to get a picture with Santa!  Our dedicated TJCA-CFA staff will once again be manning the Santa House each weekend, December 1-2, 8-9,  15-16, and 22-23 to help you and your children enjoy the holidays.  Please visit them between 6PM-9PM each Friday, and 5PM-9PM each Saturday.

Christmas is a great time to order your 2017/18 yearbook.  Don't miss out on this special edition, highlighting our tenth anniversary of the grammar school program! The portal remains open for you to order your 17/18 yearbook.  Please click here to order:          2018YearbookOrders

A big congratulations goes out again to our TJCA-CFA academic teams!  The high school team took first place at the west region tournament, and the middle school team took second!   Both will compete for the state titles on December 9th.  Middle school team members included Emma Buckner, Jennie Conner, Leila Gagon, Maryayna Maxwell, Maylan Maxwell, Tucker McIntyre, Dominik

Mystkowski, Andrew Oliphant, Katrina Shauf, Camden Sloan, Jake Willis, and Matilda Ziegler.
High school team members include Carter Plaster, Jordan McIntyre, John Kim, Pierce Robinson, Turner White, Cole Powell, Jonathan Shauf, Adam Mystkowski, Laurie Griffith, Jesse Conner, Andrew Deaton, and Emma Carter.

The Academic Teams welcome your financial donations in support of their travel and participation at National Tournaments that they have already qualified to attend!   Please make checks payable to TJCA with "Academic Team" in the memo line.

Congratulations also to Mrs. Lisa Stepp, who was recognized by the Department of Public Instruction this past month at the state EC Conference as a "Teacher of Excellence" in North Carolina.

Congratulations also goes out to our fall sports teams for another great season of football, soccer, volleyball, cross country and tennis.  Our varsity football team ended the season at 11-2, notching the most wins in a season for TJ, and made it to the quarter final round of the state 1A Championship.  And we offer a special congratulations to Coach Jerry Cash for being named the Southern Piedmont Conference Coach of the Year!

With basketball season now underway, it is time to plan our ninth annual Talon Challenge to support the Jimmy V Cancer Research Foundation.  TJCA and Lincoln Charter have contributed over $60,000 to the V Foundation over the past eight years, and we appreciate the community service opportunity for our students and families to support a great cause.  Our Talon T-shirt sales orders will start the first week of December.
Our Talon blood drive is scheduled for tomorrow, Nov 30, and there are still spots available to donate-email for an appointment between 10:30AM-3PM.  The Talon Challenge basketball games are scheduled for January 19th at Lincoln Charter this year.   There will be memorials and honorariums you can purchase leading up to the games.  Thanks in advance for your support.

Our talented TJCA-CFA drama department is looking for sponsors who would be willing to contribute for either scripts or performance royalties for our spring 2018 production.  We will be doing a classical piece from the 1630's, and we would love to reach out for some community support from either individuals or businesses.  Contributors can choose to be recognized in the playbill.  Donations can be made out to TJCA, with 'Drama Production' in the memo line.
2020 Vision Update!

We continue to gather many documents required for our low rate financing application with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). This is a slow and tedious process, but we continue to make progress.  We are nearing completion of a final draft of the design details for our new 9th-12th grade building from our architectural firm, Little Diversified Architectural Consulting.  Please stay tuned for updates, and a meeting to reveal the latest site and building designs to our school community for your feedback.

As a friendly reminder, we respectfully request that our bus riding families consider a $50 per month donation to help keep our buses running.  If writing a check, please add 'bus donation' in the memo line, and mail to attn:  Finance Office or Mrs. White on the upper campus, or drop a check off at any of the offices.
