Principal's Message

“Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives- It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.”

Welcome to Mustang Country! The administration, faculty, and staff welcome you to Hidden Valley High School. HVHS is a friendly, safe place that provides students with many opportunities to develop academically, socially, and morally.

It is a pleasure to serve our school community as the Hidden Valley High School Principal. I believe that Hidden Valley is a “special” place where students and parents can find an inviting and safe atmosphere that places students at the forefront of what we do. HVHS offers an array of programs and curriculum options that help meet the diverse needs of individual learners through a proficiency based model that uses a variety of techniques to engage students.

These are exciting times... during the 2015/16 school year, Hidden Valley students earned more College Now credits per capita than any other school in Southern Oregon. We have a fantastic working relationship with both Rogue Community College and Southern Oregon University. These partnerships have helped us gain state and national attention with US News and World Report as a Bronze award winning school in preparing students for their next chapter of life. Currently, we offer an Advanced Placement and College Now program that offers over 130 college credit options.

Building an advisory where student tracking/planning can occur systemically is a goal of ours this school year.  We are building a student led conference requirement for students in grades 9-11.  This opportunity for students to own their progress is the goal and one that weekly advisory will help foster.  Please find a way to engage with your student as an invaluable part of this equation.  In addition to adding advisory on Thursdays, we have eliminated bells from our hallways and classrooms.  It is our hope this promotes social responsibility and enhances a learning environment without disruption.

On the facility side, we have been able to complete the first two phases of a multi-million dollar complex.  Next on our list is our softball complex and we currently are working on completion of that facility this school year.   In all, over $800,000 in cash and in-kind gifts/loans have been part of this amazing journey. Hidden Valley students and our entire community will gain immensely with the improvement of these facilities.

It is important to note that we are attempting to emphasize staff and student excellence in everything that we do here at our high school. We are proud to apply a service attitude with our patrons.  Through this vision, we are committed to the future of our entire school community.
